Up for sale, a 1991 G&L Leo Fender Signature S-500 in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. This Leo Fender Signature S-500 was crafted the year of the legendary guitar innovator’s passing, representing the culmination of decades’ worth of pioneering construction techniques and refinements, including a trio of Leo Fender-designed Magnetic Field Design (MFD) pickups, a Dual Fulcrum vibrato, Sperzel locking tuners, and a gloss Natural finish.
Tonewoods include an ash body, maple neck, and rosewood fretboard, and this S-500 weighs 8lbs 2oz. The trio of MFD pickups have ample sparkle on tap, delivering more midrange heft than most single coil designs. The bridge is spanky, with great snarl and twang, and toggling towards the neck yields a smoother, bell-like quality. Additionally, the independent Bass and Treble EQ knobs enable a broad degree of tonal sculpting precision, and the two-way Expander mini-toggle adds Neck/Bridge pickup pairings when engaged in positions 1 and 5 on the five-way pickup selector switch. This S-500 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The gloss Natural finish highlights the dynamic grain in the ash body, with Leo Fender’s signature at the bass-side horn. There is a small area of wear through the gloss at the bass-side waist edge, and additional cosmetic wear includes faint buckle rash central to the back and some minor dings on the body as a whole, in-line with careful usage. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss, with a few shallow marks behind frets 6-9 that are not distracting to the palm while fretting.
A molded hardshell case is included.
