Up for sale, a 1991 Fender Stratocaster Plus in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original molded hardshell case. Produced from 1987-1998, the Stratocaster Plus was a premium model designed to showcase the skills of Fender's new Corona, CA factory. This Strat Plus features a trio of Lace Sensor pickups, a Wilkinson roller nut, two-point vibrato, Schaller locking tuners, and a Hipshot Tremsetter.A resonant and lively instrument, this alder-bodied Strat is the perfect tonal platform for the trio of USA-made Lace Sensor pickups (all Silvers). The Lace Sensor Silver was designed to recreate the fat, authoritative sound of a ‘70s single coil, as well as accentuating the quack and cut of positions 2 and 4 on the pickup selector switch. The Lace pickups feature a unique radiant Field Barrier system that surrounds both the coil and magnets, reducing 60-cycle hum. The patented Lace Micro Combs replace traditional bobbins, yielding a wider tonal range and better string balance than traditional guitar pickups. This guitar weighs 7lbs 4oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation. The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with round shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .800” deep at the 1st fret and .890” at the 12th. The 22 fret fretboard has a modern 9 1/2“ radius, and the medium jumbo fretwire benefits from a level and crown, only exhibiting a hint of wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-5. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the Wilkinson nut measures 1 11/16“ in width. On the headstock, the Schaller locking tuners hold pitch extremely well as per their design, even with liberal use of the two-point vibrato. The headstock face has an E9-prefix serial, while the neck heel conclusively dates the instrument with a Jan. 14, 1991 stamp. All of the electronics function as intended, with a five-way pickup selector switch, Master Volume, and pair of Tone controls for the trio of Lace Sensor pickups. The CTS pots all have 1990 date codes, and a treble bleed circuit has also been added to the Volume control. The second Tone knob features Fender's patented TBX circuitry, a center-detent, stacked 250k/1 Meg pot that acts like a standard Tone control from 0 to 5. Dialed up past 5, the control decreases the resistance, allowing more bass, treble, presence, and output to flow to the amp. The two-point vibrato has a fluid, responsive feel, working in concert with the roller nut and locking tuners, complete with a factory-installed Hipshot Tremsetter. Plastics include the three-ply white pickguard and lightly aged trio of knobs.Cosmetic wear on the gloss Olympic White finish is limited to a handful of pinhead-sized dings on the lower bout on top, a couple marks on the body perimeter, light buckle wear, and a few strap-related marks near the rear strap button. The neck profile has a satin finish. The original Fender-branded molded hardshell case is included.
