1991 Fender Stratocaster Model ST500-VR Sherwood Green Near-Mint, Japan MIJ Fujigen

+ shipping

Up for sale, a 1991 Fender Stratocaster model ST500-VR in near mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, with a custom color Sherwood Green Metallic finish. Made at the famed Fujigen factory, this early Fender Japan Stratocaster is a unique, rare model, taking the '62 Strat platform and modernizing it with a 22 fret slab rosewood fretboard and Gotoh tuning machines.

Tonewoods include an alder body and maple neck, and this Strat weighs 7lbs 15oz. The trio of Alnico single coil pickups deliver quintessential Stratocaster tonalities at each position on the five-way pickup selector switch, with chewy twang at the bridge, bell-like fullness at the neck, and hollow quack at the “in-between” positions. This ST500-VR has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The gloss custom color Sherwood Green Metallic finish is dark and rich, with a few clusters of very minor pinhead-sized finish imperfections on the bass side of the top, and this is a clean example, with cosmetic wear limited to a couple tiny nicks along the lower bout perimeter. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile is flawless.
