Up for sale, a 1991 Fender Stratocaster ‘62 vintage reissue model ST62-650 in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and uncommon outside of its country of origin, this “Made in Japan” Strat was made at the famed Fujigen factory.
Tonewoods include an alder body, maple neck, and slab rosewood fretboard, and the guitar is loaded with a trio of Fender's American Vintage series 57/62 single coils. These pickups feature black fiber bobbins, staggered alnico magnets, and push-back cloth-covered leads, delivering plenty of sparkle, bounce, and spank. The bridge pickup provides smooth cut and bite, while the "in-between" positions on the three-way pickup selector switch have a snappy, thinned-out quack. The neck pickup is bold and round, with a throaty zing that's harmonically rich and great for lead work. This Strat weighs 7lbs 11oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Maple
-Shape: Substantial C, generous shoulders, measuring .865” 1st fret, .990” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood slab, 7 1/4” vintage-spec radius
-Frets: Slender, full factory height and well-rounded crowns, hint of wear beneath the plain strings 1-2
-Scale Length: 25 1/2"
-Nut: 1.650” (42mm), bone
-Tuners: Kluson-style, Gotoh
-Serialization: “Made in Japan”, J-prefix
Body Specs:
-Wood: Alder
-Pickups: Fender American Vintage black bobbin 57/62 pickups
-Harness: Untouched solder, full-size Japanese pots date to March, 1991
-Controls: Volume, Tone x2, three-way pickup selector
-Hardware: Six-point vibrato with diecast block
-Plastics: White three-ply pickguard, knobs
The gloss three-tone Sunburst finish is very vintage-correct in its burst gradient, darker than most and very representative of certain early '60s examples. Cosmetic wear is limited to light buckle rash on the treble side of the back and a handful of faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The ambered gloss on the neck profile is immaculate.
A gigbag is included.
