Up for sale, a 1991 Fender Stratocaster ‘57 vintage reissue model ST57-50 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Made at the famed Fujigen factory, this guitar matches '50s spec with a gloss-finished maple fingerboard, pencil-dated neck heel, single-ply pickguard, and trio of alnico magnet single coil pickups.Sold only within Japan and rarely seen outside its country of origin, this Strat has a resonant basswood body and chiming, clear quality that translates well through the stock alnico magnet ST-Vintage single coil pickups. There’s ample sparkle in all pickup positions, with a chewy, chiming bridge position tone and more sweetness as you toggle towards the neck pickup on the five-way switch. The "in-between" settings have plenty of quintessential Strat quack, and the neck pickup offers warmth and bell-like cut. The guitar weighs 7lbs 5oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action and accurate intonation. The one-piece maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with well-rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .835” deep at the 1st fret and .965” at the 12th. The maple fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4” radius and retains the stock slender frets which only show a hint of wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-2. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The stock bone nut measures 42mm (1.650") in width. On the headstock, the guitar features the proper '50s-style logo and Kluson-style Gotoh tuners which turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The neck heel and pocket retain their factory stamps, and the heel is pencil dated to 10/31/91. The “Made in Japan” text and K-prefix serial number are present above the Fender-embossed four-bolt neck plate. All of the electronics function as intended, with the original trio of black bobbin ST-Vintage single coils wired to full-size Japanese potentiometers which date to July of 1991 and a modern five-way switch. The chrome-plated hardware is clean with just a light dusting of surface patina, and the vibrato responds smoothly with a full-size trem block, jumping back to the original pitch with ease. Original plastics include the one-ply pickguard, knobs, and uniformly yellowed pickup covers.Cosmetic wear on the gloss Olympic White finish includes a number of small dings along the lower bout body edge, with just a handful of additional minor marks and faint finish scratches on the body as a whole. The ambered gloss finish on the neck profile is clean and smooth.A Levy’s-brand padded gigbag is included.
