Up for sale, a 1991 Fender Precision Bass ‘51 vintage reissue model OPB-51DM in excellent condition and in perfect working order. A particularly rare and early example from Fender Japan, this bass hails from the golden age of “Made in Japan” production, crafted at the Fujigen factory.
At the heart of the bass is a USA-made Seymour Duncan SCPB-2 Basslines single coil pickup (a later substitution), and this pickup has ample output, with broader low end than a vintage-style wind. The bass delivers a strong fundamental punch with a resonance and thump that cuts through with a different tonal color than later split coil P Bass pickups. The solid ash string-through body ensures the bass delivers both exquisite sustain and a complex midrange character. This bass weighs 8lbs 11oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss two-tone Sunburst finish exhibits some limited finish checking on the top and along the perimeter, with some minor dings and finish scratches on the body from light, careful use. The neck retains its smooth ambered gloss, with a few shallow marks along the profile length that don't distract the palm while fretting.
A modern Fender-branded gigbag is included.
