Up for sale, a 1991 Fender Stratocaster ‘54 vintage reissue model ST54-900 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. This early, top-tiered “Made in Japan” Strat was produced at the venerable Fujigen factory during the golden age of Fender Japan production, uncommon outside its country of origin. With premium features throughout mirroring Fender's American Vintage line, the ST54-900 features a nitro lacquer gloss finish, American Vintage 57/62 black bobbin pickups, USA-made CTS pots, steel tremolo block, and a soft V-shaped neck profile carve. And while the ST54-900 made its first catalog appearance in '90, supplanting the ST54-115 model, the specs between these two ST54 models are ostensibly identical.
Weighing 7lbs 10oz, tonewoods include an alder body and a one-piece maple neck, providing a balanced, clear acoustic profile channeled faithfully via the pickup complement. The Fender USA black bobbin single coils (the same pickups seen in the American Vintage line and early USA Custom Shop Strats) feature staggered alnico magnets and cloth-covered leads; they’re lively, sparkling, and dynamic, and the sound is distinct and vital in every position on the three-way pickup selector switch. The bridge pickup has bite and bounce, with a woody, percussive middle pickup, and round, bell-like chime at the neck. This Strat benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The ST54-900 model is finished in genuine nitro lacquer (unlike the poly finishes used on the vast majority of Fender Japan production) and wear on the two-tone Sunburst gloss is limited to a few minor dings and finish scratches, largely limited to the body perimeter and the lower bout behind the bridge on top. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile shows a few shallow marks along the spine of the V that don’t distract the palm.
A modern premium Fender hardshell case is included.
