Up for sale, a 1991 Chandler PC-TE-VY vintage T-style electric guitar in near mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. Founded in 1980, Chandler was a small boutique brand originally based out of San Francisco. Exceptionally rare, this T-style build features a bound spruce top, chambered mahogany body, maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard. The craftsmanship easily rivals Fenders of the era, and the humbucker and single coil pickups channel the inherent warmth of mahogany and the woody, percussive cut of spruce. The humbucker has plenty of power and muscle while retaining definition, and the Tone control has push/pull coil tap functionality for more glassy single coil textures. The bridge pickup has a brass baseplate in traditional Tele fashion, delivering plenty of twang and cut, and the two pickups compliment each other well in the middle position on the three-way switch. This Chandler weighs 7lbs 10oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, accurate intonation, and easy-playing action.
The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile with modest shoulder and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .790" deep at the 1st fret and .850" at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard features pearl dot inlay and pristine stock medium jumbo fretwire. The guitar plays cleanly in every register up the straight neck with and an ideally adjusted and responsive truss rod. The scale length is 25 1/2", and the hand-carved bone nut measures 1 5/8“ in width. The headstock features Kluson-style tuners that turn smoothly and hold pitch well.
On the body, the stock electronics work as they should, with a three-way pickup selector, Master Volume and Tone knobs, and push/pull coil split for the humbucker. The Volume pot dates to 1991, and the pickups meter at 9k ohms in the neck position and 7.75k ohms at the bridge with a brass base plate. The neck pickup cavity is staped "VY" noting the "Vintage Yellow" ambered gloss finish. The chrome plating on the six-saddle bridge base, control plate, and knurled knobs is quite clean, with light surface patina on the nickel humbucker cover. Cosmetically, this guitar is near mint, and the neck profile sports a pristine smooth satin finish.
A hardshell case is included.
