Up for sale, a 1991 B.C. Rich Bich 8-string bass in mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. This exceedingly rare non-catalog Bich Bass iteration was crafted in Japan as part of the NJ (Nagoya, Japan) Series, likely custom-ordered or produced in extremely limited quantities, featuring maple neck-through construction with maple body wings, active electronics, a Leo Quan Badass Bass II bridge, and a pair of DiMarzio Model P split-coil pickups.
The neck-through construction results in terrific natural sustain and sonic authority, and this Bich Bass weighs 10lbs 8oz. The DiMarzio Model P split-coil pickups are big and bold, with plenty of low end power and oomph, and there is a broad array of tones achievable via the active electronics, including independent Boosts, Phase switching, “Dual Sound” switches, and a six-position rotary Varitone control. This Bich Bass 8-string has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, dialed in with 105-20 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Maple
-Shape: Slender C, measuring .815” 1st fret, .960” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Ebony, 24-fret, cloud inlays
-Frets: Medium jumbo, no wear
-Scale Length: 34”
-Nut: 1 11/16”, bone
-Headstock: “Designed by Bernie Rico” script (back of peghead)
-Tuners: Grover open-gear, Schaller “R”-stamped (second course)
Body Specs:
-Wood: Maple (walnut stringers)
-Pickups: DiMarzio Model P split-coil x2
-Controls: Master Volume, Boost On/Off toggle x2, Phase toggle, Boost Volume x2, Neck pickup Volume, Varitone, Dual Sound toggle x2, Master Tone, Three-way pickup selector
-Harness: Pots date to January/March, 1991, active electronics powered by 9V batteries
-Hardware: Leo Quan Badass Bass II bridge (gold-plated)
-Plastics: Pointer knobs, cream pickup covers
The gloss Natural finish highlights the construction of the instrument with subtle curly figuring in the maple. This is an exceptionally well-kept example, with barely a mark on the body, while the gloss on the neck profile is similarly flawless.
The original hardshell case is included.
