Up for sale, a 1990's Mosrite Ventures Model '64 vintage reissue bass in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This extremely rare instrument was produced by Kurokumo, an official Mosrite licensee in Japan for a number of decades, boasting the unusual factory finish combination of a gloss Black finish on top paired with a three-tone Sunburst on the back and neck profile.

A short scale affair with a 30 1/2" scale length, this Mosrite is strung with 45-100 roundwound strings, and the basswood body (just like the original '60 Ventures Models) offers a smooth, even-sounding tonal platform for the pair of single coil pickups. Delivering growl and round punch, the pickups offer a distinctive tonal response and ideal thump. The bass weighs 8lbs 8oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with comfortable action and accurate intonation.

The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with moderate shoulder, measuring .805" deep at the 1st fret and .895" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features medium jumbo fretwire with fret edge binding, and the frets have plenty of meat and well-rounded crowns, showing virtually no wear. The bass plays easily in every register with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The fretboard width is 1 9/16" at the zero fret, just forward of the aluminum nut, and the headstock retains nickel-plated clover button tuning machines that show light surface patina. And unlike later Japanese Mosrite iterations, this bass retains the "Ventures Model" text on the headstock face.

The electronics function as intended, with pickups that meter at 7k ohms, governed by Master Volume and Tone controls with smooth knobs. The controls are mounted to a pale mint green pickguard and a pair of smooth (non-embossed) pickup covers round out the plastics. Hardware includes a four-saddle bridge with roller saddles and combination aluminum/rosewood stoptail. Cosmetic wear on the gloss finish is limited to a couple minor marks on the bass side of the top, and similarly restrained wear on the lower bout on the back. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.

The original hangtag is included, along with a padded gigbag.
