1990s Morris TF-60 Shaded Top Vintage Dreadnaught Acoustic Guitar Sunburst Near Mint w/ Case, Japan

Up for sale, a 1990’s Morris TF-60 dreadnought acoustic guitar in near mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Made at the Terada factory in Japan, this expertly crafted vintage dreadnought has the general body construction in-line with a Martin D-28. Cosmetic refinements include abalone top binding on the "shaded top" Sunburst gloss finish, hexagonal fretboard inlay, and the Morris name oriented vertically on the headstock face.

Featuring a solid X-braced spruce top and jacaranda back and sides, this acoustic has a classic square shoulder dreadnought tonal profile. A cousin of Brazilian rosewood, Jacaranda Pardo is often referred to as Bolivian rosewood, offering a similar tonal response to its Brazilian counterpart with extremely dynamic grain patterns and a rich color. Weighing 5lbs, this Morris has a clear, crisp and authoritative tone. The bass register is punchy and taut with a sweet bloom as notes sustain, while the trebles are clear and snappy, and there’s a certain immediacy to the note attack of the instrument that helps it stand out in a mix. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Morris TF-60 is dialed in with comfortable action and fresh 12-53 bronze strings.

The mahogany neck has a medium depth soft V profile carve, measuring .855" deep at the 1st fret and .920" at the 9th. The bound ebonized rosewood fretboard features hexagonal abalone inlay and pristine original vintage-style slender fretwire. The guitar plays well in every register with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The scale length is a full 25 5/8", and the nut is a hand-carved piece of bone measuring 1 11/16" in width. The bound headstock features a diamond volute, jacaranda veneer and vertical T.F. Morris inlay, very much reminiscent of a top tier Martin. The stock gold Schaller-style tuning machines turn very smoothly and hold pitch well.

On the body, the rosewood bridge sits flush with the spruce top on all edges, and the saddle has decent height. The guitar has abalone top binding, along with detailed marquetry on the backstrip, bisecting the bookmatched jacaranda. Visible through the soundhole, the Morris label stamped with TF-60, mirroring the TF-60 stamp on the heel block. Exceedingly well-kept, the brown tortoise pickguard accents the rich Sunburst gloss on top, and cosmetic wear is limited to just a couple faint finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss on the body as a whole.

The original black tolex hardshell case with Morris badge on the exterior is included.
