Up for sale, a 1990s Jerry Jones Neptune Shorthorn DC-2 in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Handmade in the USA (Nashville, TN) as a high-quality iteration of the iconic Danelectro design, this discontinued Jerry Jones combines the aesthetics and tones of a vintage instrument with the reliability and functionality of a modern build. One of the most celebrated designs in the Danelectro family, the Shorthorn double cutaway model with “seal” pickguard was an essential tool of artists like Jimmy Page and Syd Barret, loaded with a pair of “lipstick” single coil pickups and boasting Dano’s signature semi-hollow poplar/Masonite construction.
The semi-hollow thinline construction results in an instrument with a decidedly resonant acoustic bark, lively and immediate, providing an ideal platform for the pickup pair. The “lipstick” single coil pickups deliver ample chime and hollow twang, with a roundness, warmth, and percussive clarity that keeps the sound focused and present in all positions on the pickup selector switch. This Jerry Jones Neptune Shorthorn DC-2 weighs 7lbs, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
