Up for sale, a 1990s Greco AP-1000 in near-mint, 100% original conditions and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. This premium Greco model, produced at the Fujigen factory, is a Japanese-built iteration of the Ampeg Dan Armstrong platform, featuring a transparent acrylic (Lucite) body, three-piece maple/walnut neck with a rosewood fretboard, and “Rock-Bullet” humbucker with blade pole pieces. Even the faux wood pickguard is a faithful recreation, with "Spirits of the Live" text where one would otherwise see "Dan Armstrong - Ampeg."
This AP-1000's “Rock-Bullet” humbucker packs a punch, metering at 9.3k ohms, with a full-sounding, aggressive tone that delivers muscular, spanky cleans or thick, ripping gain while retaining excellent top-end definition. The two-way mini toggle bypasses the harness and sends the pickup directly to the 1/4" jack for maximum dynamic feel and “cranked” levels at the flip of a switch. Lightweight for an acrylic guitar at 8lbs 13oz, this AP-1000 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Three-piece Maple/Walnut/Maple
-Shape: Slender C, generous shoulders, measuring .815” 1st fret, .890” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood, 24-fret, 12” radius
-Frets: Original slender, pristine
-Scale Length: 24 3/4”
-Nut: 1.650” (42mm)
-Tuners: Original Gotoh
-Headstock: Rosewood veneer, faithful to original Dan Armstrong shape with similarly accurate truss rod cover
Body Specs:
-Pickup: “Rock-Bullet” blade pole humbucker, fixed/non-modular
-Harness: Untouched solder, full-size Japanese pots
-Hardware: Original six-saddle bridge, flat-topped knurled knobs
-Plastics: Original faux rosewood pickguard with “Spirits of the Live” text
The contoured acrylic (Lucite) body is very clean, with great transparency, and cosmetic wear is limited to just a handful of faint scuffs on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss.
The original black tolex hardshell case is included.
