Up for sale, a circa 1997 Ernie Ball Music Man “Axis EX” in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. An extremely unique example that’s sure to be a head scratcher for more than a few EBMM and EVH enthusiasts, this Axis EX model retails a factory EVH signature on the headstock, while the A-prefix serial number range is generally attributed to production circa 1997. Produced in Japan, this guitar essentially mirrors the USA-made EVH model in its appearance and spec, with a pair of custom wound DiMarzo pickups, a genuine Floyd Rose tremolo, and a deeply figured quilted maple top with a gloss Translucent Gold finish.
Weighing 7lbs 12oz, tonewoods include a basswood body and a select flame maple neck capped by a thick slab maple fretboard. The custom pair of DiMarzio humbuckers were wound specifically for this signature model and not offered elsewhere; these pickups are mounted directly to the body for optimal resonance, dishing out plenty of articulate cut and sweet sustain, with more growl and attitude from the bridge pickup and a nice thick, round sounding neck pickup. This Axis/Eddie Van Halen signature model has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, slinky action, and accurate intonation.
