Out Of Stock
Up for sale, a 1990's Burny F-Bird V in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. A particularly rare upscale Burny-branded instrument manufactured by Fernandes in Japan, this guitar is a exceptionally well-crafted iteration of the Firebird V platform featuring set-neck all-mahogany construction with a particularly round and chunky neck profile and the original Firebird mini humbucker pickups which offer excellent top end detail and chime. Very faithful approximations of the original Gibson pickup design, these mini humbuckers allow for a broad tonal range and complex harmonic content. The bridge pickup has a growly, biting sound which pairs well with the smoother and warmer sounding neck pickup, and the guitar is featherweight at only 7lbs. We've professionally setup this Burny here at our shop, Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, and the guitar has been dialed in with optimal intonation and fresh 10-46 strings.

The mahogany neck has a round 50s-style C profile carve with generous shoulder and ideal substance, measures .870" deep at the 1st fret, graduating to .995" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard is a particularly dark cut of this tonewood with pearloid trapezoid inlay and original medium jumbo fretwire. The frets match vintage Gibson spec in terms of crown and width, showing virtually no wear and playing cleanly up the 24 3/4" scale. The carved bone nut measures 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock retains the original set of unique nickel-plated "banjo" tuning machines. These distinctive gears are only seen on Burny's Firebird models, offering a similar performance and appearance to the Kluson gears seen on early USA-made Firebirds, yet with less mass to limit neck dive. The Burny-branded truss rod cover tops things off with bold silkscreen text.

The electronics are 100% stock and untouched, and the original hardware includes a nickel ABR-1-style bridge and stopbar tailpiece which show uniform surface patina. The long neck tenon is visible in the neck pickup cavity, ensuring optimal connection and resonance between the neck and body. The two-tone Sunburst gloss finish is warm and vintage-correct, and cosmetic wear is limited to a few minor marks central to the back and at the treble-side waist, with just a couple additional scuffs and nicks on the body as a whole. The smooth gloss neck profile finish has just a couple shallow marks on its length.

This is a very rare and extremely well cared for Burny model with pickups that are leaps and bounds closer to the true tonal characteristics of a '60s Gibson Firebird than those being produced by Gibson in the modern era.

The original form-fit faux leather gigbag is included.
