Up for sale, a 1990 Paul Reed Smith Custom 24 “10 Top” in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Hailing from 6th year of PRS production (often called the "pre-factory" days, but more accurately when production totals were notably small), this model was simply dubbed the "PRS Custom" in early factory advertisements, as the Custom 24 model name had yet to be minted. Arguably the definitive PRS model, this Custom 24 features a Tortoise Shell finish over the handcarved bookmatched "10 Top" paired with a one-piece mahogany body and mahogany neck, boasting all the hallmarks of their flagship model's early design including a slab Brazilian rosewood fretboard complete with Birds in Flight abalone inlay.

A tremolo-equipped model with Standard Treble and Standard Bass humbuckers, the pickups are essentially a slightly overwound PAF-style design, delivering great harmonic content, tight lows, treble sweetness, and a clear, articulate midrange, and the two-way “Sweet Switch” mini-toggle adds a touch of smoothness and compression in the midrange when engaged. The five-position Rotary-Hybrid pickup selector knob is wired as follows:

Position 1: Humbucking Treble (bridge) pickup alone
Position 2: Outside coils of both pickups (Out-of-Phase), cocked wah-style sound
Position 3: Series single coils (described by PRS as the “warm version” of a Strat’s in-between sound)
Position 4: Parallel single coils (described by PRS as the “crisp version” of a Strat’s in-between sound)
Position 5: Humbucking Bass (neck) pickup alone

This Custom 24 10 Top weighs 8lbs 3oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, slinky action, and accurate intonation.
