Up for sale, a circa 1990 Mosrite Ventures Model Bass Standard Series model VMB-900 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. This extremely uncommon iteration of the Ventures Model Bass platform was produced in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s by KuroKumo, an official Mosrite licensee in Japan for a number of decades.
A short scale affair with a 30" scale length, this Mosrite features a basswood body (just like the original '60 Ventures Models) and offers a smooth, even-sounding tonal platform for the pair of B-900 single coil pickups. Delivering growl and round punch, the pickups are wound to proper vintage spec and both meter at 12.1k ohms, offering a distinctive tonal response with great midrange character. This Ventures Model Bass VMB-900 weighs 10lbs 2oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and spot-on intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Maple
-Shape: Medium C, measuring .840” 1st fret, .925” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood, mini dot inlays
-Frets: Medium jumbo, no wear
-Scale Length: 30”
-Nut: 1 9/16”, aluminum, zero fret
-Headstock: “Mosrite,” and “The Ventures Model” logos
Body Specs:
-Wood: Basswood
-Pickups: B-900 single coil x2, (12.1k ohms)
-Harness: Noble pots, Sprague Orange Drop tone cap
-Hardware: Four-saddle toploader bridge, skirted knobs, switch tip
-Plastics: Three-ply pickguard, matte black “Mosrite”-stamped pickup covers
The body sports distinctive German carve, and the gloss Black finish has subtle buckle rash central to the back and various small dings and finish scratches. The gloss on the neck profile is smooth and clean, with just a couple shallow marks along the profile length that are not distracting to the palm while fretting.
The original Mosrite-branded hardshell case is included.
