Up for sale, a 1980 Gibson Les Paul Standard in excellent condition and in perfect working order with the original Tobacco Sunburst gloss nitro lacquer finish and Gibson USA hardshell case. The three-piece carved maple top, solid (non-sandwich) mahogany body, and maple neck deliver the classic range of sounds indicative of this tonewood combination, with incredible clarity and warmth. Loaded with an original pair of T Top humbuckers, the bridge pickup delivers round, chiming tones with a hint of growl and great cut, while the middle position on the three-way toggle has an ideal rhythm sound, especially with the neck pickup rolled back just a touch. The neck position humbucker has warmth and woof without sacrificing detail, providing a perfect lead sound and a sweetness that lends itself to complex chord voicings. This Les Paul weighs 9lbs 14oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation. The three-piece maple neck has a modestly slender C-shaped profile carve at the nut, gently gaining more overall heft and shoulder as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .825" deep at the 1st fret and .990" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features pearl trapezoid inlays and the original medium jumbo frets with their wide/flat factory fret dress, good meat, and only light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-5. The guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The original nut measures 1 11/16" in width, and the "Standard" truss rod cover is intact. The headstock features the original clean nickel-plated Gibson flower tuners which have large metal tulip buttons, turning smoothly and holding pitch well. The electronics include an original T Top humbucker pair with patent number-embossed baseplates and one clean ink stamp from Dec 5th, 1979. The harness features the quartet of original CTS pots with visible date codes from the 45th week of '80. The hardware includes the original chrome Nashville bridge and corresponding stopbar with gleaming chrome plating, and stock plastics comprise the cream pickup rings, switch surround, and pickguard, along with a particularly clean set of gold speed knobs. The three-piece maple top has well-matched seams, and the original nitro lacquer Tobacco Sunburst gloss finish shows buckle rash across the back and a few additional minor marks and finish scratches on the body as a whole. There are a few minor dings on top near the lower bout binding as well, and palm wear through the smooth gloss favoring the bass side of the neck carve behind frets 3-7.A modern Gibson USA brown tolex hardshell case with pink plush interior is included.
