1990 Gibson Dove Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Vintage Sunburst Near Mint w/ Case

Up for sale, a 1990 Gibson Dove in near mint condition with the original hardshell case. One of sparingly few Doves made in the early '90s, made rarer still by the Vintage Sunburst gloss nitro lacquer finish, this Dove is a visual stunner with a bold square shoulder dreadnought tone to match. Featuring a solid X-braced spruce top and solid maple back and sides, the overarching tonal profile is bright and articulate, with the bold projection and clear, sparkling muscle that comes with a square shoulder dreadnought featuring maple back and sides. The bass register is crisp and smooth, and the trebles have ample cut and sparkle to spare. While this Dove is a very rewarding strummer, the tonewood complement also lends itself well to fingerpicking, The instrument weighs 4lbs 10oz, professionally dialed in here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 12-53 bronze strings and easy-playing action.The three-piece maple neck has a moderately chunky C-shaped profile carve at the nut with generous shoulder in every register and even more heft as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .885" deep at the 1st fret and .995" at the 9th. The bound Indian rosewood fretboard features practically perfect medium jumbo fretwire with plenty of meat and crown, and the fretboard is inlaid with mother of pearl split parallelograms. Setting the Dove apart from the Hummingbird, this model features a full 25 1/2" scale which puts extra tension on top, resulting in greater projection and a richer, slightly brighter tonality. The nut measures 1 3/4" in width, and the headstock is fitted with original Kluson-style Gibson Deluxe tuners with greened keystone buttons, turning smoothly and holding pitch well.The rosewood bridge features mother of pearl dove inlay on the wings, and the bridge sits flush with the top on all edges. The saddle has ample height, and the neck angle is ideal. Visible through the soundhole, the original oval white Gibson label is present, matching the serial stamped on the back of the headstock. The original Vintage Sunburst (or Tobacco Sunburst, for you purists) gloss nitro lacquer finish is exceedingly clean, framing light flame figuring on the bookmatched maple back and sides. There is a slender line of touchup just to the right of the endpin where a small split in the maple has been cleanly repaired. Otherwise, there's barely a mark on this Dove save for a few faint pick marks across the strum path. The gloss finish on the neck profile is pristine, and a strap button has been added to the neck heel.The original brown tolex Gibson hardshell case is included.
