Up for sale, a 1991 Fender ‘63 Vibroverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original owner’s manual and schematic. One of Fender's earliest and most sought after vintage reissue amplifiers, this USA-made 2x10 combo is very faithful to the original Vibroverb design both in terms of appearance and the integrity of the circuit. This amp delivers the warmth, incredible EQ sweep, and glassy, detailed quality of Fender's classic Brown Panel circuits, and while the cleans are bold and defined, the amp also has smooth, rich overdrive beyond 5 on the Volume dial. Add tube-driven, footswitchable spring reverb and a bias-based tremolo circuit with a deep pulse and you have one of Fender's most revered circuits and sought after reissues.
The circuit retains the stock Schumacher-made transformers (the same transformer manufacturer used by Fender in the 1960s) which date to the 41st and 42nd weeks of 1990, and the circuit is virtually untouched. The preamp comprises five 12AX7s and one 12AT7, and the power tubes are a pair of USSR-made 5881s (6L6GC).
The speakers are the original pair of Oxford 10” 10K5F-1 speakers, featuring ceramic magnet construction and produced exclusively for this model. These speakers are also highly accurate in appearance and tone to the Oxfords made for Fender in the early ‘60s. Offering clear trebles and smooth breakup, these speakers pair perfectly with the tone of the Vibroverb. The tube chart is intact inside the cabinet, and the "BA" code on the chart translates to January, 1991.
The smooth brown tolex is very clean, as is the brown faceplate, with all of the brown “cupcake” knobs present. The wheat grillcloth exhibits light wear, with two small tears central to the cloth. Hardware includes the original flat Fender logo, tilt-back legs, chassis straps, handle and sphinx glides (feet).
The original owner’s manual and schematic are included.
