Up for sale, a 1990 Fender Telecaster Custom '62 vintage reissue in 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This "Made in Japan" Telecaster is a rare and early example produced at the Fujigen factory and meant only for the Japanese domestic market. Faithfully crafted to match Fender's golden age examples, this guitar features an alder body, highly figured flame maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard, ensuring a detailed and balanced natural acoustic tone.

Officially model TL62B-65, the guitar delivers classic Tele chewy twang and cut, with a shimmering snap in the bridge position and a smooth, round-sounding neck pickup with a bell-like chime. This Tele weighs 7lbs 15oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings and low action.

The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with moderate shoulder and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .805” deep at the 1st fret and .895” at the 12th. The extremely dark, tight-grained rosewood slab fretboard has Fender's traditional 7 1/4" fretboard radius, with original slender fretwire that shows moderate wear on the crowns of frets 1-2, with wear exclusively beneath the plain strings growing fainter until fret 8. The guitar has a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod, playing cleanly in all registers. The nut measures 42.5mm in width (just a hair under 1 11/16"), and on the headstock, the Kluson-style Gotoh tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The neck heel and pocket retain their original factory stamps, and the small "65" sticker is intact on the back of the headstock, representing the 65,000 yen price point when this guitar was sold new in 1990. The "Made in Japan" text is also present above the four-bolt Fender-embossed neck plate.

All of the electronics work as they should, and the original wiring harness features untouched solder joints and full-size pots which date to May of 1990. The "Pat. Pending" bridge plate is fitted with steel barrel saddles, and the control plate and flat-topped knurled knobs have clean chrome plating. A three-ply parchment pickguard rounds out the plastics.

The gloss Black finish exhibits a couple finish chips along the binding edge on top, with small dings and light finish scratches on the body as a whole. There is broad and consistent flame figuring extending the length of the neck, highlighted by a smooth ambered gloss finish on the profile.

A Fender-branded padded gigbag is included.
