Up for sale, a 1990 Fender Telecaster '52 vintage reissue model TL52-900 in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Fender Japan's top of the line Tele in '90, this guitar is extremely faithful to vintage Fender spec and is a direct descendant of the JV series Fender Japan guitars from a few years prior. In terms of build quality, vintage accuracy, and component quality, this is a no-corners-cut example with a Butterscotch Blonde nitro lacquer finish over an ash body, outfitted with the same pickups and wiring harness as the concurrently built American Vintage line.
With flathead screws throughout and a pencil-dated neck heel just like a β50s example, this Telecaster is also unique for its serialization. While the βMade in Japanβ text is present above the neck plate, the bridge itself is a serialized American Vintage component, complete with brass saddles. This is an anomaly of certain top tier Fender Japan Teles from the β80s, where the only serialization is the Fender USA bridge.
Built on the traditional tonewood platform of a premium ash body and one-piece maple neck, this guitar is a dynamic and soulful instrument with a particular midrange complexity, resonance, and treble articulation, weighing a comfortable 8lbs. The American Vintage β52 black bobbin pickups include a bridge position with a brass baseplate, black fiber bobbin, and flush-mounted alnico pole pieces, delivering dynamic, chewy twang, while the neck pickup has ideal fullness and bell-like top end. Is it purely cosmetic and is the finish stable? Also yes. The gloss finish on the neck profile is smooth and clean.
