Up for sale, a 1990 Fender Telecaster '52 vintage reissue model TL52-600 in 100% original condition and in perfect working order with a Charcoal Burst gloss finish. Produced at the famed Fujigen factory, this Fender Japan exclusive model is particularly rare, with dark streaking in the transparent butterscotch gloss finish highlighting the grain of the American Basswood body. The lightly toasted appearance of this finish was officially christened Charcoal Burst by Fender Japan.Loaded with the original single coil pair, this Tele dishes out a twangy yet bold and smooth bridge pickup sound, and the flat-pole pickup has the punch and percussive cut associated with the very first Telecasters/Broadcasters. The neck pickup is round and bell-like, still plenty bright and great for chiming chords or silky lead lines. The guitar weighs 7lbs 8oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation. The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges in every register, measuring .825" deep at the 1st fret and .910" at the 12th. The fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4" radius, with original slender fretwire that retains its full factory height. The frets show only light wear on the crowns beneath the plain strings on frets 1-5, and virtually no wear further up the fretboard. The guitar plays easily up the 25 1/2" scale, with a straight neck and optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 42.5mm in width (just shy of 1 11/16"), and the headstock retains the original Kluson-style Gotoh tuning machines which turn smoothly and function as intended. The neck heel and pocket retain the original matching TL52 model stamps, and the "Made in Japan" text and I-prefix serial are present above the Fender-embossed four-bolt neck plate. The electronics function as intended, with full-size pots that date to 1990. There is patina on the bridge base, which retains the original trio of steel barrel saddles, while the control plate and knurled metal knobs have plenty of shine. Cosmetic wear includes scattered dings on the body perimeter, with some light indentations where the forearm crosses the top and a few additional scuffs and marks on the lower bout on the back. The neck profile is flawless, with a faintly darker spot from a guitar stand behind fret 10This rare and early Fujigen-made Telecaster model was only very briefly offered by Fender Japan, never sold outside its country of origin. Recently imported to the States, 100% original, and professionally setup, this Tele is an excellent example of the renowned quality of Fender Japan. The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
