Up for sale, a 1990 Fender Stratocaster ‘62 vintage reissue model ST62-650 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This “Made in Japan” Strat was crafted at the Fujigen factory during the golden age of Fender Japan, produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and loaded with a pair of factory-installed USA-made American Vintage 57/62 single coil pickups.
An upper tiered model, tonewoods include an alder body, maple neck, and slab rosewood fretboard. The American Vintage series 57/62 single coils feature black fiber bobbins, staggered alnico magnets, and push-back cloth-covered leads, delivering plenty of sparkle, bounce, and spank. This ST62-650 weighs 8lbs 13oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Maple
-Shape: Chunky C, measuring .870” 1st fret, .980” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood slab, vintage-spec 7 1/4” radius
-Frets: Slender, no wear
-Scale Length: 25 1/2"
-Nut: 1.650” (42mm), bone
-Tuners: Kluson-style, Gotoh
-Serialization: “Made in Japan”, G-prefix
-Factory markings: Neck heel pencil dated 2-8-90, model stamps on neck heel/pocket
Body Specs:
-Wood: Alder
-Pickups: American Vintage 57/62 single coil x3 (USA-made)
-Harness: Untouched solder, full-size Japanese pots date to November/December, 1990
-Controls: Volume, Tone x2, Three-way pickup selector
-Hardware: Vintage-style Synchronized Tremolo (diecast block), jack cup
-Plastics: Three-ply white pickguard, aged knobs
The gloss Olympic White finish is quite well-kept (especially for a 35 year old instrument), with wear limited to a handful of minor dings, largely clustered on the perimeter and on top behind the bridge. The ambered gloss on the neck profile highlights subtle flame figuring in the maple, with a few small nicks along the profile length that are not distracting to the palm while fretting.
A Fender-branded gigbag is included.
