Up for sale, a 1990 Fender Stratocaster '57 vintage reissue model ST57-55 in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. An early example produced by Fender Japan at the famed Fujigen factory and designed to be sold within the Japanese domestic market, the ST57-55 model is an incredibly well-made instrument, with the attention to detail and precise fit and finish work that has made the early Fender Japan instruments sought after by studio players and serious collectors alike.

Tonally, this guitar channels the essence of the best '50s Strats, retaining its trio of original alnico magnet single coil pickups. The guitar offers a chewy, chiming bridge position tone, with presence, power and sparkle as you toggle towards the neck pickup on the five-way switch. The "in-between" settings have that quintessential Strat quack, and the neck pickup has girth and warmth, while still having a balanced EQ curve and plenty of top end snap. The guitar weighs 7lbs 5oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The one-piece maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve, yet with notably round shoulders in every register, and faintly rolled fretboard edges for added comfort, measuring .825" deep at the 1st fret and .945" at the 12th. The original slender frets retain their full factory height with well-rounded crowns, showing virtually no wear and playing cleanly up the straight neck with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The guitar conforms to traditional specifications with a 7 1/4" fretboard radius, 25 1/2" scale length, and nut width of 42mm (1.650"). On the headstock, the guitar features the proper '50s-style logo and Kluson-style Gotoh tuners which turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The neck heel and pocket have the original factory stamps, and the heel is pencil dated 9-27-90. The "Made in Japan" text and I-prefix serial number is present above the Fender-embossed four-bolt neck plate.

All of the electronics work as intended, with the original trio of ST-Vintage single coils wired to a trio of full-size Japanese potentiometers which date to August of '90. The chrome-plated hardware has ample shine, with light patina on the bridge saddles. The vibrato responds smoothly with a full-size trem block, jumping back to the original pitch with ease. Original plastics include the one-ply pickguard, deeply yellowed pickup covers, and knobs and switch tip which show notably less yellowing. Cosmetic wear is limited to just a few minor dings and light finish scratches on the body as a whole. The ambered gloss on the neck profile is flawless.

A Fender-branded gigbag is included.
