Up for sale, a 1990 Charvel by Jackson DK-080-SH in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original gigbag. Made at the Chu Shin factory in Japan and sold exclusively to the Japanese domestic market, this shred-ready Charvel was part of the Dinky Custom series, with visually distinct features including a reverse headstock, reverse shark fin inlay and Violet gloss finish. Tonewoods include a poplar body, satin-finished quartersawn rock maple neck, and 22 fret slab rosewood fretboard. The bridge pickup is a Jackson J90 ultra high-output, distortion class humbucker, and the neck single coil is a J-100XL featuring Alnico V magnet construction. The J-100XL has ample single coil snap and cut, and the J90 is big and bold, delivering thick, ripping drive that translates to monster chords and singing, white-hot melodic playing. This Charvel weighs 7lbs 13oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, slinky action, and spot-on intonation. The quartersawn rock maple neck has a very slender D-shaped profile carve with generous shoulders in every register, measuring .735” deep at the 1st fret and .840” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard features reverse shark fin inlay and a 12-16” compound radius, and the stock jumbo fretwire exhibits light wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-15 that becomes progressively lighter as you travel up the fretboard. The neck heel is "scalloped" (contoured) for increased access to the highest frets. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The locking nut ensures pitch stability against the most dynamic of dives via the stock Schaller FLC-202 tremolo, and the nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width. The headstock retains the original black Jackson-branded tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. All of the electronics work as they should, with a single Master Volume knob and three-way pickup selector switch governing the Jackson SH pickup array, and the original full-size Japanese pot dates to ‘90. All of the original black hardware is present and clean, including the single dome-topped knurled knob and the Schaller FLC-202 tremolo. The tremolo actuates smoothly and bounces quickly back to pitch.Cosmetic wear on the gloss Violet finish includes some small dings on the body as a whole, and some faint finish scratches in the clear coat. There is one line or finish checking adjacent to the bridge on top and light buckle worming on the back central to the lower bout. The smooth satin finish on the neck profile has been buffed to a fast-feeling semi-gloss through play, with a scant few marks along the profile length that don't distract the palm while fretting. The original Charvel-branded padded gigbag is included.
