Up for sale, a 1990 Charvel by Jackson AR-090-SSH Ark Series Superstrat in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This rare built-to-shred Charvel was made at the Chu Shin factory in Japan, rarely seen outside its country of origin. It features a poplar body, quartersawn rock maple neck, and a thick slab rosewood fretboard. The bridge pickup is a Jackson J90C ultra high-output, distortion class humbucker with an accentuated low frequency response. The two single coil-sized dual rails humbuckers are S6-Fs, which deliver pristine, bell-like tones with no hum and take gain notably well. This Charvel weighs 8lbs 3oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, slinky action, and spot-on intonation. The quartersawn rock maple neck has a slender and fast-feeling D-shaped profile carve with full shoulders, measuring .740” deep at the 1st fret and .865” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard features a compound 12-16” radius, shark fin pearloid inlay, and original jumbo fretwire. The frets have good height and meat, with moderate fretwear near the nut, growing progressively lighter until fret 10. This guitar plays cleanly in all registers up the 25 1/2" scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The locking nut measures 1.650" (42mm) in width, holding pitch exceptionally well in tandem with the Charvel-branded, Floyd Rose-licensed tremolo system. On the headstock, the original black Jackson-branded Gotoh-made tuners turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The neck heel and pocket retains the factory model stamps. All of the electronics work as they should, with Master Volume and Tone knobs and a five-way pickup selector switch governing the Jackson SSH pickup array. The original full-size pots date to June, 1990. The black hardware is notably clean, including the dome-topped knurled knobs and the Charvel-branded tremolo.Cosmetic wear on the gloss Black finish is limited to a handful of minor nicks and dings on the back and lower bout body edge, with a few faint finish scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth satin finish on the neck profile has been naturally buffed to a semi-gloss through play, and feels lightning fast in the palm.A ProTec padded gigbag is included.
