Up for sale, a 1990 Charvel by Jackson Model 5A in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and factory paperwork. Made at the Chu Shin factory in Japan as part of the licensing agreement between IMC and Charvel/Jackson, the Model 5A is a rare top-of-the-line Super Strat offering from Charvel featuring neck through construction with a bridge position Jackson J95C humbucker, single Volume knob, and Jackson-built, Floyd Rose-licensed JT6 tremolo with corresponding locking nut.The maple through neck construction features poplar body wings with a thick slab rosewood fretboard, delivering a balanced, clear natural acoustic tone and an ideal platform for the high gain crunch of the J95C ceramic magnet humbucker. The J95C is an aggressively wound pickup, designed for optimal clarity when distorted and producing a white-hot bite perfect for screaming leads and big, crunchy chords. This Model 5A weighs just 7lbs 10oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, slinky action and spot-on intonation. The maple neck has a slender D-shaped profile carve with robust shoulder in all registers, measuring .795” at the 1st fret and .895” at the 12th. The 24 fret slab rosewood fretboard has a 12-16” compound radius, pearloid dot inlay and flawless jumbo fretwire. This guitar plays cleanly in every register up the 25 1/2” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The locking nut measures 1 11/16” in width. On the headstock, the stock “Jackson”-stamped black tuners turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. All the electronics function as intended, with a single Volume knob governing the Jackson humbucker. The stock full-size pot dates to December, 1990. The Floyd Rose-licensed JT6 tremolo actuates smoothly with a two-point pivot, textured black finish and chrome vibrato arm. This is a notably well-kept example, and cosmetic wear on the gloss Cobalt Blue finish is limited to some light scuffing on the treble side of the strum path and just a handful of faint scratches on the body as a whole. The gloss finish on the neck profile is pristine. The original Charvel-branded molded hardshell case is included, along with the original warranty and user manual.
