Up for sale, a 1989 Taylor 710 in exceptional, 100% original condition, complete with the original hardshell case. Crafted in Santee, CA, this dreadnought body Taylor features an X-braced spruce top, rosewood back and sides, and a mahogany neck capped with an ebony fingerboard.

A single strum yields ample projection, with both the glassy treble detail for which Taylor is known, along with a surprising amount of muscle and power. The wound strings speak clearly with limited compression when digging in, and the guitar yields a warm, round lower-midrange response and just a hint of brassy growl. There's an overarching smoothness to this Taylor's sonics, and the trebles are shimmering and lively, with the kind of responsive, open quality attributable to a top that's been worked-in for decades. This 710 weighs 4lbs 11oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-52 bronze strings and easy-playing action.

The mahogany neck has a slender, very soft V-shaped profile carve with gently rolled fretboard edges at the nut, filling out with a hair more heft in the upper registers, measuring .805” deep at the 1st fret and .875” at the 9th. The ebony fingerboard features flawless medium fretwire, playing cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 11/16” in width, and the headstock features a rosewood truss rod cover and Schaller tuning machines.

The ebony bridge sits flush with the top on all edges, and the compensated saddle has ample room for future adjustment. The tortoise pickguard exhibiting some requisite scuffing along the strum path. Visible through the soundhole on the heel block, the original label is intact, with handwritten model info, a serial that dates to ‘89, and Robert Taylor’s signature.

Cosmetic wear on the gloss finish is limited to just a handful of minor marks on the body as a whole, largely relegated to the top and central to the back, as well as some minor scuffing on the rims at the treble-side lower bout. The smooth satin finish on the neck profile is very clean and has a worn-in, easy-playing feel.

The original brown tolex hardshell case is included.
