Up for sale, a 1989 Orville Les Paul Custom LPC-75 in excellent condition and in perfect working order, 100% original save for a replacement set of knobs. Made exclusively for the Japanese market and rarely seen outside its country of origin, this Orville Black Beauty is an official Gibson licensed instrument and a result of a partnership between Gibson USA and their Japanese distributor Yamano Gakki.

Made in the Terada factory in Japan, this Orville features a carved maple top; a solid mahogany body; and PAF-style humbuckers. The bridge pickup has a midrange forward growl and cut, while the neck pickup has more girth and fullness, with a tailored, clear midrange. Naturally resonant and authoritative at 9lbs 7oz, this Orville has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The mahogany neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with modest shoulders and a fast feel, measuring .845” deep at the 1st fret and .905” at the 12th. On the bound rosewood fretboard with block inlay, the medium jumbo fretwire is flawless. This guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the bone nut measures 1 11/16” in width. The headstock has split-diamond inlay, and the gold-plated tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, with a light dusting of patina on the keystone buttons.

On the body, all of the electronics work as they should, with the traditional Gibson Les Paul electronics layout, and the full-size Japanese pots date to '89. The gold-plated hardware includes the pickup covers, ABR-1 bridge, and stopbar. Plastics comprise the four-ply black pickguard and a replacement quartet of black bonnet knobs.

The gloss Ebony finish is framed by multi-ply binding, and cosmetic wear includes an area of buckle rash central to the back and a number of minor marks and faint scratches on the body as a whole, largely relegated to the back and sides. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss, with a handful of shallow nicks along the profile length that have no impact on playability..

A gigbag is included.
