Up for sale, a 1989 Levinson Blade R4 Koa in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. Blade instruments are the brainchild of Gary Levinson, designed in Switzerland and crafted with top-notch fit and finish work in Japan. Best known for their Strat-style designs, this rare model features a solid koa body, Blade’s Variable Spectrum Control switching, a Falcon tremolo with roller block saddles, locking Sperzel tuners, and gold-plated hardware, outfitted with a set of Reflex Blues pickups.
Designed to compete with EMG in the late eighties, the UK-made Reflex Blues single coils feature a resin-potted preamp, producing a classic Strat-style sound that’s bright and sparkling with a wide array of tonalities achievable via the active Levinson electronics. The pickups are wired to the active Variable Spectrum Control with a three-way mini toggle EQ boost switch, coupled to a three-band set of adjustable tone pots for a wide sweep of sculptable sounds. This R4 weighs 8lbs 6oz and has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
