Up for sale, a 1989 Gibson Les Paul Special in excellent condition and in perfect working order, featuring a gloss Wine Red nitro lacquer finish and outfitted with a pair of boutique Lollar P-90 pickups. Offering the same tonal platform as a '50s single cutaway Special, this Gibson features all mahogany construction, offering a sonically warm platform for the P-90 pair. These Lollars are hyper articulate and dynamic, tailored for glassy treble cut and thick overdriven midrange bark. The guitar weighs 9lbs 14oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with low action, accurate intonation and fresh 10-46 strings.

The one-piece mahogany neck has Gibson's quintessential slender '60s C-shaped profile carve with moderate shoulder, measuring .815" deep at the 1st fret and .885" at the 12th. On the bound rosewood fretboard, the original medium jumbo frets are intact, exhibiting moderate wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3, with fainter wear extending to fret 6. The guitar plays cleanly in every register with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width, and the scale length is 24 3/4". The face of the headstock has a clean Gibson inlay and gold silkscreen Les Paul Special text, and the guitar is fitted with a clean set of Gibson Deluxe bolt-bushing tuners with white plastic buttons.

All of the electronics work as they should, with the pair of upgraded Lollar P-90 pickups wired to the original wiring harness with CTS pots that date to '89. The guitar features a traditional Les Paul control array with individual Volume and Tone controls for each pickup and original practically perfect black bell knobs. The Nashville bridge and stopbar tailpiece have bright nickel plating with just a hint of surface patina, and the original three-ply black pickguard and pickup selector Rhythm/Treble ring are also intact.

The gloss Wine Red nitro lacquer finish exhibits some small dings and scuffs on the body as a whole, largely relegated to the back, and some pick scuffing across the strum path. The neck profile also retains its smooth gloss, with just a few small shallow marks.

The Gibson USA brown tolex hardshell case with pink plush interior is included. The pink "blanket" is partially detached, and the case retains its original latches and leather handle.
