Up for sale, a 1989 Gibson Chet Atkins CE chambered acoustic electric classical guitar in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. The CE is among Gibson’s most unique guitars ever produced, designed in collaboration with Atkins and played extensively by Mark Knopfler.

For players that seek the feel and tonality of a traditional nylon string classical guitar, but with a feedback resistant body and an highly tweakable undersaddle pickup system, the Chet Atkins CE is one of the only, and arguably the best, options available. With Volume and Tone thumbwheels on the upper bout, and individual trim pots in the control cavity to tailor the volume of each individual string, the CE's pickup has far more flexibility than a typical piezo. The guitar weighs 8lbs 14oz, with the traditional tonewood combination of a solid spruce top and chambered mahogany body. This Gibson has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with normal tension strings and easy-playing action.

Neck Specs:

-Wood: Mahogany
-Shape: Full C shape, prominent shoulders, measuring .900” 1st fret, .965” 9th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood
-Frets: Original, medium jumbo, pristine
-Scale Length: 25 1/2”
-Nut: 1 13/16”

Cosmetic wear on the gloss nitro lacquer finish is limited to a handful of minor dings on the top at the lower bout and very limited buckle worming on the back. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss, save for one shallow mark on the bass-side shoulder behind fret 8 that has no impact on playability.

The original brown tolex Gibson USA hardshell case is included.
