Up for sale, a 1989 Fender Telecaster '72 vintage reissue in 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This early Fender Japan Tele was produced at the Fujigen factory in the golden age of Fender Japan production, rarely seen outside its country of origin. The guitar features a solid ash body finished in gloss Black, paired with a maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. The guitar's natural acoustic tone is broad and authoritative, offering both warmth and muscle. The resulting tonal palette yields a bridge pickup that has ample twang and chime, balancing the attack and snappiness of maple with the midrange punch and sonic complexity of ash. The neck pickup has a smooth, open tone with warm lower mids and airy highs. The guitar weighs 7lbs 9oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with low action and 10-46 strings. The maple neck has a modestly slender C-shaped profile carve with slight shoulders and rolled fretboard edges, gaining just a hair more depth as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .830" deep at the 1st fret and .895" at the 12th. On the rosewood fretboard, the original slender frets show moderate uniform wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-6, extending more lightly until fret 10. The neck is straight, and the truss rod is responsive and optimally adjusted. The scale length is 25 1/2", and the nut measures 1 5/8". The headstock features a '70s-style Telecaster block logo with the C-prefix serial number just below it, as well as original Gotoh tuners that turn very smoothly. The "Made in Japan" text is present above the four-bolt "F" neck plate. All of the original electronics function as intended, and the stock full-size Japanese pots date to 1989. The bridge features a trio of nickel plated brass saddles, with modest patina on the bridge base and brighter chrome on the control plate and knurled knobs. The gloss Black finish is accented by a three-ply parchment pickguard, and the guitar exhibits honest playwear including various finish chips on the body parameter, scuffing on the lower bout body edge and additional light finish scratches and minor nicks across the body. The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
