Up for sale, a 1989 Fender Precision Bass '57 vintage reissue in excellent condition and in perfect working order. An upper tier iteration of the 1957 reissue platform, this bass features a solid alder body and figured birdseye maple neck, with vintage-correct touches including long stem clover button tuners with full-size baseplates, spiral bridge saddles, and a pencil-dated neck heel. Strung with 45-105 roundwound strings, the bass has a rich, smooth, and bold range of tonalities, benefiting from the inherent articulation and note attack of the maple fretboard. The bass weighs 8lbs 13oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with accurate intonation and easy playability in every register. The neck has a round medium C profile carve with ample shoulder and faintly rolled fretboard edges, gaining more heft up the fretboard with a nice handful in every register, measuring .850" deep at the 1st fret and .990" at the 12th. The gloss finish is smooth and ambered on the neck and fingerboard, highlighting the birdseye maple figuring that extends the length of the neck. The slender frets retain their full factory height with well-rounded crowns, showing just a touch of wear beneath the A and D strings on frets 1-3. The scale length is a full 34", and the nut measures 1 11/16" in width. The headstock retains the original tuning machines, matching Fender's Pre-CBS style gears with long stems, clover buttons, and vintage-spec full-size baseplates. The early "Made in Japan" text and E-prefix serial number are present above the Fender-embossed four-bolt neck plate. The neck heel is pencil dated 5-2-89, and the PB57-70 factory stamps are present in the neck pocket and on the heel. The electronics function as intended, and the full-size pots date to March of '89, with the original wiring harness mounted to a replacement three-ply white pickguard. The chrome-plated hardware is nice and clean, and cosmetic wear on the gloss Black finish includes light buckle rash on the back below the belly contour and a few light finish scuffs and dings on the body as a whole. There is one touched-up finish chip of note at the treble-side waist, and the neck profile gloss is extremely smooth with just a few minor nicks.
