Up for sale, a 1989 Fender Pro Feel Jazz Bass model JBR-800 in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a molded hardshell case. A rare, top-tier “Made in Japan” model outfitted with active electronics, this premium Jazz Bass iteration was crafted at the Fujigen factory during the golden age of Fender Japan production as a Japanese domestic market exclusive.
Tonewoods include a lightweight ash body and a maple neck with a maple cap fingerboard, and this bass is bright and articulate-sounding, with plenty of authority and note attack and a complex midrange character. The pair of Hotrod 7J pickups are coupled to an active preamp with a Master Volume knob, center detent Balance pot for a smooth gradient between the two pickups, and center detent Bass and Treble EQ knobs. As such, the tonal palette is quite broad, offering boosted thump and plenty of detail. Weighing 8lbs 7oz, this JBR-800 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation.
