Up for sale, a 1989 B.C. Rich Mockingbird RMG-OF in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original gigbag. Part of the NJ (Nagoya, Japan) series, this bolt-on neck iteration of the Mockingbird platform was produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market. It features streamlined controls, a six-on-a-side headstock, a Floyd Rose-licensed tremolo, and a pair of humbuckers engineered for high gain. The pickups are modeled after the Dimarzio Super Distortion with a high output ceramic magnet design engineered to provide a range of roaring tonalities with ample output and midrange push, metering at 11.4k ohms each. This Mockingbird weighs 8lbs 1oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, slinky action, and spot-on intonation. The Canadian maple neck has a slender D-shaped profile carve with ample shoulder and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .795” deep at the 1st fret and .885” at the 12th. The thick slab 24 fret rosewood fretboard features pearloid dot inlay and flawless jumbo fretwire. This guitar plays cleanly in all registers with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The scale length is 24 3/4”, and the locking nut measures 1 11/16” in width. The six-on-a-side headstock features chrome-plated, R-embossed tuners which turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. All of the electronics function as intended; the stock pickup pair is governed by a three-way selector switch, with a Master Volume knob and individual Tone controls for each pickup. The original full-size Japanese pots are dated to August and September, 1989. The hardware is all notably clean, including the black dome-topped knurled knobs and the chrome-plated, Floyd Rose-licensed tremolo. The locking tremolo engages easily for deep dive bombs and sharp warbles, bouncing back to pitch with ease.Cosmetic wear on the gloss Black finish is limited to a few dings along the lower bout, primarily concentrated on the bass-side, and a small area of buckle rash on the back. The neck profile has a smooth, clean satin finish. The original form-fit faux leather gigbag is included.
