Up for sale, a 1988 Ibanez Artstar AM200 in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. From the first year of production, this Ibanez Artstar features a highly-figured burl mahogany body with a gloss Antique Violin finish and a pair of Super 58 humbuckers. The AM200 was the thinnest and smallest offering in the Artstar line, marrying the comfort and size of a solid body with the rich, open sound of a semi-hollow.
Weighing 7lbs 5oz, tonewoods include burl mahogany top, back, and sides with a maple centerblock, three-piece maple/mahogany neck, and a bound 22-fret ebony fingerboard. Acoustically, this guitar offers both glassy immediacy and warmth, qualities faithfully captured by the Super 58 humbuckers. The PAF-style Super 58s are bright and bold, with a harmonically-rich midrange and sparkling highs; the bridge has a focused upper-midrange punch, with smooth, sweet sounds when toggling to the neck. This AM200 benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
Neck Specs:
- Neck: Mahogany/maple (3pc)
- Shape: “Artstar AM”, measuring .810” at 1st fret, .925” at 12th fret
- Fretboard: Bound ebony, 12” radius, split pearl/abalone block inlays
- Frets: Medium, no wear
- Scale Length: 24 3/4”
- Nut width: 43mm, bone
- Tuners: Gotoh SG381, pearloid buttons
- Serialization: H8-prefix (1988), printed on headstock

Stunningly well preserved, the Antique Violin finish is exceedingly clean, and while ostensibly a “used” instrument, at nearly 40 years old there’s barely a scratch on it.
The original brown hardshell case is included, complete with case key.
