Up for sale, a 1988 Fender Telecaster Modern model TLM55 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. A rare Japanese domestic market model only offered for a few short years, the Telecaster Modern model was crafted in the Fujigen factory and features a solid basswood body and one-piece maple neck, medium jumbo fretwire, and a modern six-saddle Tele bridge. Loaded with a pair of Fender's Hotrod-5T single coil pickups, each position on the three-way pickup selector switch is clear and sparkling, offering chewy twang and articulate single coil snap. The instrument weighs 8lbs 4oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a very slender and fast-feeling C-shaped profile carve with good shoulder and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .755" deep at the 1st fret and .845" at the 12th. The maple fretboard features pristine medium jumbo fretwire, and the guitar plays cleanly in every register up the straight neck with a modern 9.5" fretboard radius. The scale length is a full 25 1/2", and the nut measures 1 5/8" in width. The headstock features a block Tele logo and original Gotoh tuning machines that turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The "Made in Japan" text and E-prefix serial number are present above the four-bolt F neck plate.
The electronics function as intended, with a three-way pickup selector switch and Master Volume and Tone controls. The full-size Japanese pots date to '88. The chrome hardware has plenty of shine, and the black three-ply pickguard shows pick scuffing across the pick path. The original Black gloss finish exhibits some finish chips on the body edges in addition to minor marks and light finish scratches on the body as a whole. The neck profile sports a pristine smooth gloss finish.
A gigbag is included.
