Up for sale, a 1988 Fender Telecaster Custom '62 vintage reissue in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with an upgraded Fender hardshell case. This "Made in Japan" Telecaster is a rare model, meant only for the Japanese domestic market, and features a gloss Candy Apple Red finish with aged white binding on the top and back of the instrument for a classic Fender look. Officially model TL62B-650, this guitar is a very early Fujigen factory made model with an "A" prefix serial number stamped on the bridge plate. The guitar delivers  chewy Tele twang and cut, with a shimmering snap in the bridge position and a smooth, round-sounding neck pickup with a bell-like chime. This alder-bodied Tele weighs 7lbs 12oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings and slinky action.

The one-piece maple neck has a slender C profile carve with moderate shoulder, fast-feeling with lightly rolled edges and just a hair more heft as you travel up the fingerboard, measuring .805” deep at the 1st fret and .890” at the 12th. The slab rosewood fretboard is a particularly thick cut boasting Fender's traditional 7 1/4" fretboard radius with original slender fretwire. The frets show moderate uniform wear on the crowns of frets 1-3, extending more faintly beneath the plain strings until fret 10. The guitar has a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod, playing cleanly in all registers. The nut measures 1.670" in width (just shy of 1 11/16"). On the headstock, the Kluson-style Gotoh tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The neck heel is pencil dated 12-1-88, and the pocket retains the original factory stamps. The "Made in Japan" text is present just above the Fender-embossed neck plate.

All of the electronics work as they should, and the original wiring harness features pots which date to 1988. The "Pat. Pending" bridge plate and finely grooved spiral saddles are consistent with 1962 Fender spec, complete with an upgraded bridge cover. An upgraded Fender USA three-ply mint green pickguard accents the custom color Candy Apple Red gloss, and cosmetic wear is limited to a few scattered dings on the lower bout on top, a small spot of faint targeted buckle rash at the bass-side waist on the back, and just a few additional light finish scratches and minor marks on the back. The ambered gloss on the neck profile is clean and smooth.

An era correct Fender-branded molded hardshell case is included.
