Up for sale, a 1988 Fender STR75 Pro-Feel Series Stratocaster in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order with a Raspberry Sunburst gloss finish. Part of the short-lived, upper-tiered Pro-Feel series, this exceedingly rare STR75 model was expertly crafted at the Fujigen factory and designed only to be sold to the Japanese domestic market. With a birdseye maple top over a poplar body, gold hardware, Floyd Rose Licensed tremolo, contoured neck heel, and HSS pickup array, this guitar sits comfortably in the Super Strat category. The guitar has a smooth, balanced sound that translates well through the HSS pickup complement. The stock ceramic magnet single coils in the neck and middle positions offer plenty of sparkle and cut with more authority and punch than alnico magnets, while the humbucker is designed for higher gain with a cutting, powerful sound. The guitar weighs 8lbs 14oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mikes Guitar Bar with fast action, spot-on intonation, and 10-46 strings.
The maple neck has a slender C profile with good shoulder and an effortless, fast feel in every register, measuring .805" deep at the 1st fret and .890" at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard features a player-friendly 12" radius and original jumbo fretwire. The frets have good height and meat with virtually no wear, and the guitar plays well up the 25 1/2" scale with a straight neck and optimally adjusted truss rod. The locking nut measures 1 5/8" in width, and the headstock is fitted with a gold string retainer bar and the original Gotoh tuning machines. The "Made in Japan" text and E-prefix serial number are present just above the contoured four-bolt neck plate.
All of the electronics function as intended, with a five-way selector switch and Master Volume and Tone controls governing the HSS pickup array. The original full-size Japanese pots date to 1988, capped with knurled gold knobs. The Ex-Trem Floyd Rose Licensed vibrato comes complete with the original arm, actuating easily for deep divebombs or more subtle expressive work. The finish is a deep red burst known as Raspberry Sunburst, abbreviated as "RBS" in the '88 Fender Japan catalog. Cosmetic wear is limited to scuffing in the pick path and a few light scattered marks and scuffs on the body perimeter. The neck profile gloss finish is pristine and smooth.
The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
