Up for sale, a 1988 Burny RLC-65 "Black Beauty" LP Custom ‘57 Model electric guitar in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Crafted in Japan under the umbrella of the Fernandez company, Burny has long been lauded for producing some of the most impressive "lawsuit era" Customs on the market. This particular Burny features a solid mahogany body and top like a true '50s Custom paired with a dark, ebonized rosewood fretboard. Outfitted with an articulate trio of Burny's VH-3 pickups, these humbuckers capture the natural power and tonal complexity of the instrument, with a distinct tone in every position on the three-way toggle. The guitar is particularly lightweight for an LP-style instrument at 7lbs 14oz, with a lively natural projection and great sustain. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Burny is dialed in with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation. The mahogany neck has an modestly chunky C profile carve, measuring .865" deep at the 1st fret and .950" at the 12th. The bound ebonized rosewood fretboard features pristine slender frets with fret edge binding. The guitar plays cleanly in every register with a straight neck and ideally adjusted truss rod. The scale length is 24 3/4", and the nut is a hand-carved piece of bone measuring 1 11/16" in width. The headstock has a Gibson-esque split diamond pearl inlay along with the Burny logo (often mistaken for "Bunny") as well as gold Gotoh tuning machines with light patina on the metal tulip buttons. All of the original electronics are intact, with full-size pots that date to '88. The controls consist of a dedicated Volume and Tone for the neck, and shared Volume and Tone knobs for the middle and bridge positions, with a three-way pickup selector toggle that functions as follows: Neck/Middle+Bridge/Bridge. All of the hardware is original, and the gold plating exhibits very light surface patina across the pickup covers, ABR-1-style bridge and stopbar. Plastic parts match '50s Gibson spec with a quartet of black bonnet knobs and an amber switch tip. Cosmetic wear is limited to light scuffs in the clear coat of the Ebony gloss, mostly relegated to the back, and a tiny bit of finish chipping along the back lower bout binding edge adjacent to the input jack. The neck profile sports a pristine smooth gloss finish.A padded gigbag is included.
