Up for sale, a 1987 Marshall JMP 2204 Master Model 50w Mk 2 Lead vintage tube amplifier head, freshly serviced and notably clean. This JCM800 can deliver the thick crunch, sizzle, and power for which the 800 series is known. And the inclusion of the Master Volume allows for greater control over the saturation point and overall volume. Biased to perfection with a pair of Electro Harmonix EL34s, this Marshall is ready for stage and studio use.The circuit is extremely original, with the full complement of Drake transformers that date to 1987, each with its original paper sticker on the transformer bell. This amp was also originally imported to Japan, as evidenced by the Yamaha Corp sticker on the back panel and "Mains" switch central to the panel which was unique to the Japanese-imported Marshalls. This switch has been removed, as it corresponded with the amp's ground, and a modern three-prong power cable has been installed. Also, interestingly enough, even though the Yamaha label purports 100v usage, Marshall never made specific transformer taps for the Japanese market. As such the transformers are identical (with the same transformer taps used) as those for the American and European markets, and the amp is wired for 117v USA usage. The chassis itself is extremely clean with very little oxidation, and the well-kept nature of the amp extends to the back panel and faceplate, which retains all of the original knobs. The V-prefix serial number on the back of the chassis also dates to '87.The amp retains the original molded plastic feet, corners, and handle caps, as well as the large "Marshall" logo and piping on the black grillcloth. The original smooth black tolex shows sparingly little wear.
