Up for sale, a 1987 Ibanez RG665 in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. An exceedingly rare model (to the point that its Ibanez Wiki entry is incomplete), this Ibanez is made exceedingly rarer by its custom Splash finish, identical to the finish offered on the short-lived (and highly limited) Vinny Moore VM1 signature model which was introduced in ‘88. And while reportedly the Splash finish on the VM1 was limited to 50 guitars, this RG665 is highly likely 1 of 1.

Crafted at the Fujigen factory, features include an Edge tremolo, a Wizard neck profile with a 24-fret dark slab rosewood fretboard, and a pair of humbuckers denoted in the catalog simply as “Vintage II Humbacker [sic].” This RG665 benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, slinky action, and accurate intonation.

-Wood: Maple
-Shape: “Wizard” profile, measuring .735” 1st fret, .830” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood slab, 24-fret, dot inlay
-Frets: Jumbo, no wear
-Scale Length: 25 1/2”
-Nut: 1.650” (42mm), Top Lok III locking
-Tuners: Gotoh
-Serialization: F7-prefix (1987)
-Factory Markings: “RG462R” stamp on neck heel (known factory error for RG665 model)

Body Specs:

The custom Splash finish has only a bit of faint buckle wear on the back and a few tiny dings on the body as a whole. The satin finish on the neck profile is smooth and clean.

The original Ibanez-branded gigbag is included.
