Up for sale, a 1987 Greco Device model JJB-L65 vintage electric bass guitar in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original form-fit gigbag. Crafted in Japan at the famed Fujigen factory and only offered from 1986-88, this rare premium Greco model boasts a sleek gloss White finish on the body and neck, accented by all-gold hardware. With a full 34“ scale length and active electronics, the bass delivers a detailed and smooth natural low end rumble that translates well through the Pro-Duce pickups for a powerful thump and punchy midrange cut. Weighing 8lbs 7oz, this Greco has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with comfortable action, spot-on intonation, and fresh 45-100 roundwound strings.
The neck has a slender D-shaped profile carve at the nut that quickly fills out with more substance as you travel up the neck, measuring .815” deep at the 1st fret and .980” at the 12th. The jumbo frets are pristine, and the bass plays well in all registers up the straight neck with an ideally adjusted and responsive truss rod. The nut measures 1 9/16“ in width, and the headstock features gold Greco-branded tuners that turn smoothly and hold pitch well.
On the body, the stock electronics work as they should, with a Master Volume knob, Pickup Balancer knob for a smooth gradient between the Pro-Duce humbuckers, and Treble and Bass knobs for ideal tonal sculpting. The control cavity also houses the 9V battery which powers the active electronics.
The white pickup covers are nigh flawless and the gold hardware has clean plating with just a hint of surface patina, particularly on the knurled knobs. The original gloss White finish shows modest uniform yellowing of the clear coat on the body, while the neck remains a brighter shade of white. Cosmetic wear is limited to a few light scuffs mostly relegated to the lower bout body edge, while the neck profile sports a pristine white gloss finish.
The original fitted faux leather gigbag is included.
