Up for sale, a 1987 Fender The Twin "Red Knob" vintage 2x12 tube amp in perfect working order. Given a clean bill of health by our techs here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this first year Twin is loaded with a full complement of matching Groove Tubes valves and is a real powerhouse.
Building on the Twin Reverb platform, this version of The Twin is also reverb-equipped, with the reverb assignable to either or both channels. There are numerous push/pull tone shift and channel select options beyond those available on the Twin Reverb model, and the Master Volume ensures that cleans and overdriven grit can be achieved at desired volumes.
The circuit is extremely original, with all of the Schumacher-made transformers intact and dating to '87. The only substituted components are a few premium F&T capacitors in the power supply to ensure optimal performance. The tube chart is in great shape inside the cabinet, and the pair of original heavy duty ceramic magnet Eminence speakers are intact. The speakers have clean blue foil Fender stickers on the magnets, with stamps on the edges of the frames dating to the 33rd week of '87. The tubes include a matched quartet of Groove Tubes 6L6 power tubes and all matching Groove Tubes valves in the preamp as well.
The original smooth black tolex and dark gray grillcloth are intact, with the raised Fender logo and The Twin badge both in great shape. There is some missing tolex along the back bottom edge of the cabinet, and the upper back panel has a repaired split. The faceplate is in excellent shape, retaining all of the original red knobs that give this version of the Twin its nickname.
