Up for sale, a 1988 Fender Stratocaster model ST-XII in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a molded hardshell case. Produced as part of the Limited Edition collection from 1987-93, this rare ”Made in Japan” Strat was crafted at the Fujigen factory during the golden age of Fender Japan production, notable for being the first 12-string Strat model ever made.

This Strat features an alder body, maple neck, and slab rosewood 22-fret fretboard, and also of note, the bridge on this initial iteration of the 12-string Stratocaster matches the design of Fender's Electric XII model from the 1960s, a feature which would be absent from later Strat XIIs. The trio of ST-Vintage alnico magnet single coils deliver a sound that is sparkling and clear, faithfully capturing the natural chime inherent to the twelve-string design, with ample bridge position bounce and cut. The neck pickup is round yet crisp, and the five-way pickup selector switch allows for easy access to a unique-sounding Strat "quack" at the in-between positions, still spanky but with a fuller, distinct character that is almost phaser-esque. This ST-XII weighs 7lbs 14oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with fresh strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

Cosmetic wear on the gloss Sunburst finish includes one small finish chip on the top body edge (adjacent to the arm contour), a number of minor nicks and finish scratches on the body as a whole (largely concentrated along the lower bout perimeter), and limited buckle worming on the back. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile is nigh flawless.
