Up for sale, a 1987 Fender Stratocaster ‘62 vintage reissue model ST62-70 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This upper tiered “Made in Japan” Strat was crafted at the Fujigen factory during the golden era of Fender Japan production with an E-prefix serial, pencil dated neck heel and USA-made pickups.
Weighing 7lbs 12oz, tonewoods include an alder body, maple neck, and slab rosewood fretboard. The trio of single coils are the same 57/62 pickups seen in early American Vintage series models, featuring black bobbins, staggered alnico magnets and cloth-covered leads. These pickups deliver a bevy of quintessential sparkling Strat tonalities, with a distinct sound at each position on the three-way pickup selector switch, offering gutsy spank at the bridge and fuller, bell-like chime at the neck. This Stratocaster ST62-70 benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Hard Maple
-Shape: Slender C, full shoulders, measuring .820” 1st fret, .905” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood slab, 7 1/4" vintage-spec radius, dot inlay
-Frets: Slender, no wear
-Scale Length: 25 1/2”
-Nut: 1.650” (42mm), bone
-Tuners: Kluson-style, Gotoh
-Serialization: “Made in Japan,” E7-prefix (above neck plate), small “70” sticker on back of peghead denotes original model tier and price (¥70,000), neck heel pencil dated 2-6-87
Body Specs:
-Wood: Alder
-Pickups: American Vintage 57/62 single coil x3
-Harness: Full-size Japanese pots date to January, 1987

The gloss Olympic White finish shows notable yellowing of the clear coat, with just a handful of minor dings on the back and some additional minor marks on the body as a whole, largely along the lower bout edge. The ambered gloss on the neck profile is smooth and clean.
The original Fender gigbag is included.
