Up for sale, a 1987 Fender Boxer Series Stratocaster model ST-556 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Produced at the Fujigen factory during the golden age of Fender Japan production, this “Made in Japan” ST-556 is perfectly tailored for the “Superstrat” crowd, featuring a shred-ready SSH pickup configuration and an FS-1 tremolo system.
Tonewoods include a basswood body, maple neck, and slab 22 fret rosewood fretboard, and the original SSH pickup set comprises a pair of Fender Japan Hot Rod single coils in the neck and middle positions and a Dragster humbucker at the bridge. The Hot Rods are snappy and smooth, and the Dragster has a throaty richness which responds very well to heavy drive. The ST-556 weighs 8lbs, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, slinky action, and accurate intonation.

The Snow White finish exhibits a bit of sporadic checking in the gloss, and cosmetic wear includes a number of minor dings on the top and back, and a moderately-sized finish chip on the lower bout perimeter adjacent to the output jack. The neck profile retains its smooth black gloss, with a couple shallow nicks along the profile length that have no impact on playability.
The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
