Up for sale, a 1987 Fender Jazz Bass ‘62 vintage reissue model JB62-115 in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a tweed hardshell case. This top-tier “Made in Japan” Jazz Bass is an extremely rare, non-catalog iteration accurate to the model's introductory specs with "stack knob" Volume/Tone pairs, a pair of Fender's American Vintage black bobbin pickups, and a nitro lacquer Sunburst gloss finish.

Produced at the Fujigen factory during the golden age of Fender Japan production, tonewoods include an alder body, maple neck, and slab rosewood fingerboard. This JB62-115 has a resonant, round acoustic response, and the pickups are the same ones used in Fender's early American Vintage models, with alnico magnets, cloth-covered leads and black bobbins. The bass offers plenty of midrange growl and treble grind. Rolling back the Tone knobs yields a pillowy, thick thump that retains definition, and the stacked controls enable a level of tonal control not available with the standard three-knob configuration. This JB62-115 weighs 8lbs 15oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation.

Of note, the solder is untouched on the wiring harness, and this bass utilizes the same USA-made CTS pots from the very first year of Fender's American Vintage line at the Fullerton, CA factory. As these stacked pots saw limited use, the 1982-dated batch of potentiometers were used into the late '80s on both American Vintage models, and in this case, Fender Japan's top tier model.

Cosmetic wear on the gloss Sunburst nitro lacquer finish includes buckle rash at the belly contour, and some dings and finish scratches on the body as a whole, largely along the perimeter and on the back. The neck profile retains its smooth ambered nitro gloss, with a few shallow marks along the profile length that are not distracting to the palm while fretting.

A modern tweed hardshell case is included.
